Power industry contracts in July 2019: Europe leads global activity
On comparing contracts activity in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 70 contracts and a share of 34% during July 2019, followed by Asia-Pacific with 66 contracts and a 32% share and North America with 45 contracts and a 21.8% share.
In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with 15 contracts and a 7.3% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with ten contracts and a 4.9% share.
On the basis of the last 12-month average, Europe held a lead over others with 109 contracts, followed by Asia-Pacific with 88.

Solar tops by technology in July 2019
Looking at contracts by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 79 contracts and a 43.2% share, followed by wind with 53 contracts and a 29% share and thermal with 26 contracts and a 14.2% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment during July 2019, with 72 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (69) and Electricity Procurement (46).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 74 contracts and a 35.9% share
- Project Implementation: 69 contracts and a 33.5% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 41 contracts and a 19.9% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 14 contracts and a 6.8% share
- Electricity Supply: five contracts and a 2.4% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: three contracts and a 1.5% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- JERA (Japan) and JXTG Nippon Oil & Energy (Japan): 2,340MW from one contract
- Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam: 750MW from one contract
- EDF Renewables North America (United States): 514MW capacity from two contracts
Power contracts in July 2019: Top winners by capacity
The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions (Japan) and Toshiba Plant Systems & Services (Japan): 2,340MW from one contract
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 750MW from one contract
- Eden Renewable Cite Pvt (India): 716MW capacity from four contracts.
