Europe power industry contracts in July 2021: The UK leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, the UK led the activity in July 2021 with 14 contracts and a share of 16.1%, up 6.4% over the previous month and down 44% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Germany with 11 contracts and a share of 12.6% and Spain with nine contracts and a share of 10.3% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, France held the top spot with 32 contracts, followed by the UK with 25 and Spain with 19 contracts.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in July 2021
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with 37 contracts and a 46.3% share, followed by solar with 27 contracts and a 33.8% share and hydro with six contracts and a 7.5% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in July 2021, with 28 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (22) and Electricity Procurement (20).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 31 contracts and a 35.6% share
- Project Implementation: 23 contracts and a 26.4% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 19 contracts and a 21.8% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: eight contracts and a 9.2% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five contracts and a 5.7% share
- Electricity Supply: one contract and a 1.1% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Metaenergiaproduzione S.R.L: 380MW from one contract
- RWP VITOROG: 231MW from one contract
- Korporata Elektroenergjitike Shqiptare (Albania): 210MW capacity from one contract.
Power contracts in July 2021: Top winners by capacity
The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Wartsila (Finland): 380MW from one contract
- Sinohydro (China): 231MW from one contract
- Bechtel (United States): 210MW capacity from one contract.
