Europe power industry contracts in August 2021: Germany leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, Germany led the activity in August 2021 with 12 contracts and a share of 20%, up 8% over the previous month and flat growth when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by the UK with eight contracts and a share of 13.3% and Finland with seven contracts and a share of 11.7% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, France held the top spot with 32 contracts, followed by the UK with 24 and Spain with 19 contracts.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in August 2021
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with 31 contracts and a 57.4% share, followed by solar with 13 contracts and a 24.1% share and hydro with six contracts and an 11.1% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, Electricity Procurement was the most popular segment in August 2021, with 16 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (15) and Power Plant (14).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 23 contracts and a 38.3% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 16 contracts and a 26.7% share
- Project Implementation: 12 contracts and a 20% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: five contracts and an 8.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 5% share
- Others: one contract and a 1.7% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Axpo Holding (Switzerland): 300MW from one contract
- Centrica (United Kingdom): 140.4MW from two contracts
- Statkraft (Norway): 111.6MW capacity from two contracts.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- China Energy Engineering Group International Engineering (China) and China Energy Engineering Group Northeast No one Electric Power Construction (China): 860MW from one contract

- Taaleri Energia (Finland): 140.4MW capacity from two contracts.
