Pivot Power’s national plans combine 50 MW batteries with rapid charging stations in a £1.6bn scheme. Carlisle City Council has given the company permission to install a 50 MW battery at Harker electricity sub-station at a cost of up to £25 million, which it expects to be operational by October 2019.
Pivot power developing a national network of Energy Superhubs. These combine grid-scale batteries with high volume power connections to create rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging networks, powered by low carbon energy. Pivot have chosen sites that are close to National Grid substations, major road networks and nearby towns and cities. At each location Pivot plan to build a 50 MW battery connected to the high-voltage transmission network.
