Description

The project was developed by Bechtel and is currently owned by Florida Crystals.

The project generates 454GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 30,000 households. The project cost is $194.5m.

The process of combustion has been adopted in this combined heat and power (CHP) project to release the stored energy from the feed. Agricultural by-product and wood by-product are used as a feedstock to power the project.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Florida Power & Light under a power purchase agreement for a period of 30 years from 1997. The contracted capacity is 500,000MWh.

Contractors Involved

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was selected as the steam turbine supplier for the project. The company provided 1 turbine with 75MW nameplate capacity.

ABB Combustion Engineering supplied steam boiler for the project. The boiler installed at the site has a capacity of 598.741TPH. The temperature witnessed inside the boiler is around 955Degree Fahrenheit. The steam is pressurized inside the boiler at 1,525psig.

U.S. Operating Services is the O&M contractor for the project.
