North America power industry tenders in Q4 2019: The US leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in Q4 2019 with 296 tenders and a share of 79.8%, up 5.7% over the previous quarter and down 5% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Canada with 72 tenders and a share of 19.4% and Mexico with three tenders and a share of 0.8% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, the US held the top spot with 310 tenders, followed by Canada with 108.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in Q4 2019
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 168 tenders and an 89.4% share, followed by solar with 15 tenders and an 8% share and wind with three tenders and a 1.6% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in North America power tenders activity during Q4 2019, with 165 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (135) and Energy Storage (48).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 255 tenders and a 68.7% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 87 tenders and a 23.5% share
- Project Implementation: 14 tenders and a 3.8% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: ten tenders and a 2.7% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: five tenders and a 1.3% share.

The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:
