North America power industry tenders in Q3 2019: The US leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in Q3 2019 with 136 tenders and a share of 75.1%, up 1.2% over the previous quarter and down 63% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Canada with 45 tenders and a share of 24.9%.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, the US held the top spot with 368 tenders, followed by Canada with 115 and Puerto Rico with one tender.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in Q3 2019
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 65 tenders and a 60.2% share, followed by solar with 20 tenders and an 18.5% share and wind with ten tenders and a 9.3% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in North America power tenders activity during Q3 2019, with 68 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (65) and Energy Storage (23).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 115 tenders and a 63.5% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 38 tenders and a 21% share
- Project Implementation: 14 tenders and a 7.7% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: eight tenders and a 4.4% share
- Electricity Supply: five tenders and a 2.8% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: one tender and a 0.6% share.
