North America power industry tenders in March 2020: The US leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in March 2020 with 142 tenders and a share of 81.1%, up 4.6% over the previous month and up 31% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with 33 tenders and a share of 18.9%.
Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 108 tenders, followed by Canada with 34.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in March 2020
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 38 tenders and a 61.3% share, followed by solar with 15 tenders and a 24.2% share and wind with seven tenders and an 11.3% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in March 2020, with 107 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (39) and Power Plant (16).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 135 tenders and a 77.1% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 21 tenders and a 12% share
- Project Implementation: 17 tenders and a 9.7% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: one tender and a 0.6% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 0.6% share.

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:
- New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (United States): 6,400MW from five tenders
- CPS Energy (United States): 1,450MW from one tender
- Tennessee Valley Authority (United States): 200MW capacity from one tender.
