Tata Power Solar has been awarded a contract to provide 100,000 solar panels for the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission batch-1phase-2 project.
Under the contract, Tata Power will supply the entire module requirement for the 20MW (AC) project, which will be constructed by ACME Solar.
Tata Power Solar manufacturing and business development vice-president Rahul Budhwar said: "We are looking forward to a strategic relationship with ACME and EDF and, in the process, contributing to the success of JNNSM by providing world-class modules at competitive prices."
ACME Solar CEO Manoj Kumar Upadhyay said: "Modules constitute the single largest component in a solar power project, upwards of 50% of the total cost."
Tata Power will manufacture the 100,000 modules, constituting six million cells, at its facility in Bangalore.
During the JNNSM bidding in 2013, ACME Solar received projects totaling 100MW, of which 20MW, under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) policy of MNRE, must be developed using domestically manufactured cells and modules.
