Wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy (SEL) has secured a fourth consecutive order from GAIL to deliver 23MW of wind turbine generators which will be installed in the Indian states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Under the contract, Suzlon will provide 11 units of its S88-2.1MW turbines, which will be commissioned by the end of the 2011-2012 financial year.
Suzlon’s previous orders from GAIL include a 4.5MW project, comprising of Suzlon’s S82-1.5MW turbines, commissioned in March 2010, and a 14.7MW project currently in production in Gujarat.
Tulsi Tanti, Suzlon group chairman and managing director, said: "We are very pleased to announce our fourth order from GAIL, a ‘Navaratna’ PSU that has led the way with its approach to climate change mitigation and renewable energy.
