FGE Power, a Houston-based energy and infrastructure development firm, and its wholly owned subsidiary FGE Texas, have signed an agreement with an affiliate of Starwood Energy Group Global to finance and build two identical combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) facilities.

The team will finance and build 747MW CCGT facilities near the communities of Westbrook and Colorado City, in Mitchell County, Texas, US.

FGE Power President and CEO Emerson Farrell said: "We are excited and honoured to announce our partnership with Starwood Energy, a globally-recognised and market-leading energy infrastructure investor who shares our goal of creating clean and renewable power generation resources."

"The team will finance and build 747MW CCGT facilities near the communities of Westbrook and Colorado City."

Construction of the first phase of the two-phased power generation development, FGE Texas I (a 2×1 configuration 747MW CCGT facility), will commence in the last quarter of 2014 and reach commercial operations no later than the first quarter of 2017.

The second phase (FGE Texas II) is a mirror image of phase one and is expected to commence construction in early 2015 followed by commercial operations by the third quarter of 2017.

The FGE Texas 1,500MW project will feature Alstom Thermal Power’s next generation KA24-2 power platform and will also allow Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) to address the growing need for clean and sustainable energy resources in Texas.

FGE Texas has established new state and national standards for low emissions and is also providing low-cost and efficient power to ERCOT customers.
