The Kinyerezi III Power Plant is 600MW gas fired power project. It is planned in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in multiple phases. The project construction is likely to commence in 2021 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2023.

Description

The project is being developed by Shangtan Power Generation. Shanghai Electric Power and Tanzania Electric Supply are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 60% and 40% respectively.

It is a combined cycle gas turbine (ccgt) power plant.

The project cost is expected to be around $401m.

Development Status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2021. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2023.

Contractors Involved

China Machinery Engineering is expected to render EPC services for the gas fired power project.
