Description
The project was developed by Scatec. Scatec, STANLIB and African Infrastructure Investment Managers are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 45%, 25% and 10% respectively.
Kalkbult Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 105 hectares.
The project generates 135,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 33,000 households, offsetting 115,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $264.062m.

Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 75MW.
Contractors Involved
Kentz and Scatec were selected to render EPC services for the solar PV power project.
BYD was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company installed 312,504 modules at the site.
SMA Solar Technology supplied 84 of its Sunny Central 800CP inverters to the project site.
Scatec is the O&M contractor for the solar PV power project.
