The project is developed and owned by Huntstown Power.
It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Distillate Fuel Oil. The fuel is procured from Bord Gais.

About Huntstown Power
Huntstown Power Company Limited (HPCL) is a power generation company. The company generates power of 343 MW through Combined Cycle Gas Turbine power plant. It works on the development of all islands single electricity market Viridian’s CCGT power plant of 404 MW capacities. HPCL’s CCGT plant was developed in two phases consisting of a Siemens 343 MW multi-shaft design and a Mitsubishi 401 MW single shaft configuration burning natural gas. The company’s plant operates on distillate oil as a fuel source support. Its power plant’s output of 747 MW provides 20 % of the total electricity fed to the national transmission grid system. The company sells power from the plants to the wholesale electricity market. Huntstown Power Company Limited operates as a subsidiary of Viridian Group Holdings Limited.
