Gas was the top category in thermal technology in terms of number of contracts for the month, accounting for 18 contracts and a 78.3% share, followed by Oil with three contracts and a 13% share. Coal stood in third place with two contracts and an 8.7% share.

Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, thermal held the third position in terms of number of contracts during July 2021 with a 7.6% share.
The proportion of contracts by category in the Thermal technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: seven contracts and a 33.3% share
- Supply & Erection: six contracts and a 28.6% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five contracts and a 23.8% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: two contracts and a 9.5% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 4.8% share.
Asia-Pacific leads thermal contracts activity in July 2021
Comparing contracts activity in thermal technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 11 contracts and a share of 52.4% during July 2021, followed by Middle East and Africa with three contracts and a 14.3% share and North America with three contracts and a 14.3% share.
In fourth place was South and Central America with two contracts and a 9.5% share and in fifth place was Europe with two contracts and a 9.5% share.
