Onshore was the top category in wind technology in terms of number of contracts for the month, accounting for 58 contracts and an 81.7% share, followed by Offshore with 13 contracts and an 18.3% share.

Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, wind held the second position in terms of number of contracts during August 2021 with a 29% share.
The proportion of contracts by category in the Wind technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Power Purchase Agreement: 24 contracts and a 34.3% share
- Supply & Erection: 23 contracts and a 32.9% share
- Project Implementation: 12 contracts and a 17.1% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: eight contracts and an 11.4% share
- Electricity Supply: two contracts and a 2.9% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 1.4% share.
Europe leads wind contracts activity in August 2021
Comparing contracts activity in wind technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 31 contracts and a share of 44.3% during August 2021, followed by Asia-Pacific with 23 contracts and a 32.9% share and North America with ten contracts and a 14.3% share.
In fourth place was South and Central America with six contracts and an 8.6% share.

The top issuers of contracts in Wind technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,600MW from five contracts
- RackBank Datacenters: 500MW from one contract
- Axpo Holding (Switzerland): 300MW capacity from one contract.
Wind technology contracts in August 2021: Top winners by capacity
The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- ReNew Power Ventures Pvt (India): 900MW from two contracts
- NTPC (India) and Ayana Renewable Power Pvt (India): 450MW from one contract
- CEZ Romania (Romania): 300MW capacity from one contract.
