Power industry contracts in June 2019: Europe leads global activity
On comparing contracts activity in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 79 contracts and a share of 35.1% during June 2019, followed by Asia-Pacific with 69 contracts and a 30.7% share and North America with 52 contracts and a 23.1% share.
In fourth place was South and Central America with 13 contracts and a 5.8% share and in fifth place was Middle East and Africa with 12 contracts and a 5.3% share.
Looking at the last 12-month average, Europe held a lead over other regions with 106 contracts, followed by Asia-Pacific with 88.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in June 2019
Looking at contracts by the type of technology, Solar accounted for the largest proportion with 91 contracts and a 41.4% share, followed by Wind with 89 contracts and a 40.5% share and Thermal with 16 contracts and a 7.3% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment during June 2019, with 93 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (68) and Electricity Procurement (48).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation with 88 contracts and a 39.1% share
- Supply & Erection with 69 contracts and a 30.7% share
- Power Purchase Agreement with 38 contracts and a 16.9% share.
Power contracts in June 2019: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were
- China National Nuclear (China) with 2,400MW from one contract
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India) with 1,880MW from nine contracts
- SJVN Thermal Private (India) with 1,320MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India) with 2,610MW from six contracts
- State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom (Russia) with 2,400MW from one contract
- Larsen & Toubro (India) with 1,400MW from one contract.
