Europe power industry contracts in Q2 2019: France leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, France led the activity in Q2 2019 with 31 contracts and a share of 13.2%, down 30.2% over the previous quarter and down 71% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by the UK with 30 contracts and a share of 12.8% and Germany with 26 contracts and a share of 11.1% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, France held the top spot with 108 contracts, followed by the UK with 40 and Greece with 20 contracts.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in Q2 2019
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, Wind accounted for the largest proportion with 117 contracts and a 55.5% share, followed by Solar with 50 contracts and a 23.7% share and Thermal with 14 contracts and a 6.6% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in Europe power contracts activity during Q2 2019, with 84 contracts, followed by Power Plant (75) and Electricity Procurement (37).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 88 contracts and a 37.6% share
- Project Implementation: 71 contracts and a 30.3% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 29 contracts and a 12.4% share.
Power contracts in Q2 2019: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Turkey (Turkey) with 1,000MW from two contracts
- Ministere de la transition ecologique et solidaire (France) with 600MW from one contract
- Ministere de l’Environnement, de l’Energie et de la Mer (France) with 516.5MW capacity from 21 contracts.
Power contracts in Q2 2019: Top winners by capacity
The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- EDF Renewables (France), Enbridge (Canada) and Innogy (Germany) with 600MW from one contract
- General Electric (United States), Enercon (Germany) and Enerjisa Enerji (Turkey) with 500MW from one contract
- juwi Hellas (Greece) with 204.31MW capacity from three contracts.
