Europe power industry contracts in May 2020: The UK leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, the UK led the activity in May 2020 with 12 contracts and a share of 15.2%, up 12.1% over the previous month and flat growth when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Germany with 11 contracts and a share of 13.9% and Spain with six contracts and a share of 7.6% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, France held the top spot with 42 contracts, followed by the UK with 12 and Germany with eight contracts.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in May 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with 23 contracts and a 38.3% share, followed by solar with 14 contracts and a 23.3% share and thermal with 12 contracts and a 20% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in May 2020, with 32 contracts, followed by Power Plant (19) and T&D Equipment (15).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 41 contracts and a 51.9% share
- Project Implementation: 14 contracts and a 17.7% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: ten contracts and a 12.7% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: seven contracts and an 8.9% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: five contracts and a 6.3% share
- Electricity Supply: two contracts and a 2.5% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Dabar Power: 160MW from one contract
- Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy (Albania): 140MW from one contract
- Swb Erzeugun (Germany): 105MW capacity from one contract.

- China Gezhouba Group (China): 320MW from two contracts
- Voltalia (France): 140MW from one contract
