Europe power industry contracts in February 2021: France leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, France led the activity in February 2021 with 26 contracts and a share of 26.5%, down 10.5% over the previous month and down 35% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by the UK with 13 contracts and a share of 13.3% and Germany with eight contracts and a share of 8.2% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, France held the top spot with 40 contracts, followed by the UK with 19 and Germany with 13 contracts.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in February 2021
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with 56 contracts and a 62.9% share, followed by solar with 18 contracts and a 20.2% share and hydro with seven contracts and a 7.9% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in February 2021, with 37 contracts, followed by Power Plant (27) and Electricity Procurement (15).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 43 contracts and a 43.9% share
- Project Implementation: 33 contracts and a 33.7% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 14 contracts and a 14.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five contracts and a 5.1% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 1% share
- Electricity Supply: one contract and a 1% share
- Others: one contract and a 1% share.
Power contracts in February 2021: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Ministere de l’Environnement, de l’Energie et de la Mer (France): 519.7MW from 15 contracts
- Rio Tinto (United Kingdom): 390MW from one contract
- Amazon.com (United States): 380MW capacity from two contracts.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Landsvirkjun hf (Iceland): 390MW from one contract
- Shell Energy Europe (Netherlands): 250MW from one contract
- Parc Eolien Mont des four Faux SASU (France): 226MW capacity from one contract.
