The project, which is currently under construction, is expected to be commissioned in 2021.

Donghae – Shin Gapyeong HVDC Line is an underground line that will be operated by Korea Electric Power. The line will carry direct current (AC) through double circuit cable.

The development of the Donghae – Shin Gapyeong HVDC Line project has been approved by the Korea Electricity Commission.
