Barka III IWPP is a 750MW gas fired power project. It is located in Al Batinah North, Oman. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in April 2013.

Description
The project is currently owned by Engie Energy Services International with a stake of 29.9%, Public Authority for Social Insurance, Shikoku Electric Power, Sojitz and Suhail Bahwan Group Holding.
It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Diesel. The fuel is procured from The Ministry of Oil and Gas of the Government (MOG).
Development Status
The project got commissioned in April 2013.

The power generated from the project is sold to Oman Power and Water Procurement under a power purchase agreement for a period of 15 years.
Contractors Involved
GS E&C and Siemens were selected to render EPC services for the gas fired power project.
Siemens was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 2 units of SGT5-4000F gas turbines, each with 250MW nameplate capacity.
Siemens was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 1 unit of SST5-5000 steam turbine with 250MW nameplate capacity.
Siemens supplied SGen5-2000H electric generator for the project.
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction supplied steam boiler for the project.
Suez-Tractebel Operation and Maintenance Oman is the O&M contractor for thermal power project. The operation and maintenance contract commenced from 2013, for a period of 15 years.
