Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in Q1 2021 with 157 contracts and a 44.4% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 80 contracts and a 22.6% share and Electricity Procurement with 71 contracts and a 20.1% share during the quarter.
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 123 contracts and a 78.3% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 21 contracts and a 13.4% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: nine contracts and a 5.7% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four contracts and a 2.5% share.
Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant contracts in Q1 2021
Looking at power plant contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 105 contracts with a 66% share, followed by wind with 27 contracts and a 17% share and thermal with 16 contracts and a 10.1% share.

The top issuers of power plant contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
