Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in March 2021 with 65 contracts and a 51.2% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 28 contracts and a 22% share and Electricity Procurement with 23 contracts and an 18.1% share during the month.
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 56 contracts and an 86.2% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: six contracts and a 9.2% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: two contracts and a 3.1% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 1.5% share.
Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant contracts in March 2021
Looking at power plant contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 51 contracts with a 79.7% share, followed by wind with ten contracts and a 15.6% share and hydro with two contracts and a 3.1% share.

The top issuers of power plant contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,200MW from four contracts
- Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Malaysia): 823.06MW from 30 contracts
- Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (India): 500MW capacity from five contracts.

- Evergreen Power Mauritius Pvt (Mauritius) and NTPC (India): 150MW capacity from one contract.
