Asia-Pacific power industry tenders in July 2019: India leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, India led the activity in July 2019 with 375 tenders and a share of 60%, up 7.9% over the previous month and up 23% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by the Philippines with 96 tenders and a share of 15.4% and Bangladesh with 74 tenders and a share of 11.8% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, India held the top spot with 306 tenders, followed by Bangladesh with 98 and the Philippines with 82 tenders.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in July 2019
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 102 tenders and a 51.3% share, followed by solar with 83 tenders and a 41.7% share and hydro with nine tenders and a 4.5% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment in July 2019, with 300 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (126) and Generation Equipment (99).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 305 tenders and a 48.8% share
- Supply & Erection: 189 tenders and a 30.2% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 117 tenders and an 18.7% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: seven tenders and a 1.1% share
- Electricity Supply: four tenders and a 0.6% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: three tenders and a 0.5% share.
Power tenders in July 2019: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Manila Electric (Philippines): 2,900MW from three tenders
- Philippines Department of Energy (Philippines): 2,000MW from one tender
- Paschim Gujarat Vij (India): 600MW capacity from one tender
