Asia-Pacific power industry contracts in September 2020: India leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, India led the activity in September 2020 with 24 contracts and a share of 24.5%, down 3.1% over the previous month and up 26% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by China with 21 contracts and a share of 21.4% and Australia with 16 contracts and a share of 16.3% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, India held the top spot with 19 contracts, followed by China with 14 and Japan with eight contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in September 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 51 contracts and a 54.3% share, followed by wind with 19 contracts and a 20.2% share and thermal with 14 contracts and a 14.9% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in September 2020, with 39 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (29) and Electricity Procurement (28).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 32 contracts and a 32.7% share
- Project Implementation: 31 contracts and a 31.6% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 26 contracts and a 26.5% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: four contracts and a 4.1% share
- Electricity Supply: two contracts and a 2% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 2% share
- Others: one contract and a 1% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Taiwan Power (Taiwan): 6,500MW from one contract
- Hin Kong Power (Thailand): 1,400MW from one contract
- NHPC (India): 680MW capacity from two contracts.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- CTCI (Taiwan) and General Electric International (United States): 6,500MW from one contract
- SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction (China): 3,320MW from two contracts
- Mitsubishi Power (Japan): 1,400MW capacity from one contract.
