Asia-Pacific power industry contracts in Q2 2019: India leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, India led the activity in Q2 2019 with 75 contracts and a share of 37.5%, down 1.8% over the previous quarter and down 32% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by China with 31 contracts and a share of 15.5% and Australia with 21 contracts and a share of 10.5% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, India held the top spot with 111 contracts, followed by Australia with 39 and China with 34 contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in Q2 2019
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, Solar accounted for the largest proportion with 94 contracts and a 49.7% share, followed by Wind with 47 contracts and a 24.9% share and Thermal with 22 contracts and an 11.6% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in Asia-Pacific power contracts activity during Q2 2019, with 98 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (52) and Electricity Procurement (42).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 83 contracts and a 41.5% share
- Supply & Erection: 53 contracts and a 26.5% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 28 contracts and a 14% share.
Power contracts in Q2 2019: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India) with 3,210MW from 17 contracts
- China National Nuclear (China) with 2,400MW from one contract
- Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (India) with 1,495MW capacity from 14 contracts.

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India) with 3,010MW from seven contracts
- State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom (Russia) with 2,400MW from one contract
- Larsen & Toubro (India) with 1,400MW capacity from two contracts.
