Asia-Pacific power industry contracts in March 2020: China leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, China led the activity in March 2020 with 19 contracts and a share of 19.8%, up 14.4% over the previous month and up 111% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Japan with 12 contracts and a share of 12.5% and India with ten contracts and a share of 10.4% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, India held the top spot with 23 contracts, followed by China with nine and Australia with six contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in March 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 37 contracts and a 40.7% share, followed by wind with 30 contracts and a 33% share and thermal with 14 contracts and a 15.4% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in March 2020, with 39 contracts, followed by Power Plant (34) and Electricity Procurement (14).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 44 contracts and a 45.8% share
- Project Implementation: 29 contracts and a 30.2% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 14 contracts and a 14.6% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: seven contracts and a 7.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 2.1% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- JERA (Japan): 1,950MW from one contract
- Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan): 1,500MW from one contract
- Philippines Department of Energy (Philippines): 1,100MW capacity from two contracts.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Mitsubishi Electric (Japan) and Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (Japan): 1,950MW from one contract
- ACWA Power International (Saudi Arabia): 1,500MW from one contract
- Triconti ECC Renewables (Philippines): 1,100MW capacity from two contracts.
