Asia-Pacific power industry contracts in February 2021: India leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, India led the activity in February 2021 with 39 contracts and a share of 38.6%, up 24.3% over the previous month and up 144% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by China with 18 contracts and a share of 17.8% and New Zealand with six contracts and a share of 5.9% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, China held the top spot with 20 contracts, followed by India with 16 and Australia with ten contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in February 2021
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 51 contracts and a 57.3% share, followed by wind with 20 contracts and a 22.5% share and thermal with nine contracts and a 10.1% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in February 2021, with 36 contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (26) and Generation Equipment (24).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 39 contracts and a 38.6% share
- Supply & Erection: 25 contracts and a 24.8% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 24 contracts and a 23.8% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: nine contracts and an 8.9% share
- Electricity Supply: two contracts and a 2% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 2% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Andhra Pradesh Green Energy (India): 6,400MW from 12 contracts
- Nuclear Power Corporation of India (India): 2,000MW from one contract
- Manila Electric (Philippines) and Ministry of Energy and Mines, Laos (Laos): 1,800MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Adani Renewable Energy Holding Twelve (India): 3,000MW from five contracts
- Larsen & Toubro (India): 2,400MW from two contracts
- Shirdi Sai Electricals (India): 2,200MW capacity from four contracts.
