Asia-Pacific power industry contracts in December 2020: Australia leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, Australia led the activity in December 2020 with 19 contracts and a share of 22.1%, up 11.7% over the previous month and up 111% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by China with 15 contracts and a share of 17.4% and Vietnam with eight contracts and a share of 9.3% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, China held the top spot with 17 contracts, followed by India with 17 and Australia with nine contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in December 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 39 contracts and a 45.9% share, followed by wind with 20 contracts and a 23.5% share and thermal with 19 contracts and a 22.4% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in December 2020, with 32 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (28) and Electricity Procurement (14).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 31 contracts and a 36% share
- Project Implementation: 29 contracts and a 33.7% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 13 contracts and a 15.1% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: eight contracts and a 9.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four contracts and a 4.7% share
- Electricity Supply: one contract and a 1.2% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution (India): 3,085MW from one contract
- Mapanuepe Hydropower: 500MW from one contract
- Vietnam Electricity (Vietnam): 330MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Adani Power Maharashtra (India): 3,085MW from one contract
- China Energy Engineering Group Planning and Engineering (China): 1,497.8MW from five contracts
- East China Electric Power Design Institute (China), Anhui No.1 Electric Power Construction (China) and Anhui No.2 Electric Power Engineering & Construction (China): 1,320MW capacity from one contract.
