October 2021 has seen an increase of 3.54% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 7.87% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering an increase of 0.2% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 48.85% in October 2021, a 3.66% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 16.12% in October 2021, marking a 7.05% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 13.74% in October 2021, a 3.24% rise from September 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 13.62% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s power industry during October 2021 over previous month.
NextEra Energy posted 269 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a decline of 6.27% over the previous month, followed by Siemens with 117 jobs and a 53.95% growth. PG&E with 112 IT jobs and Schneider Electric with 56 jobs, recorded a 64.71% rise and a 1.82% rise, respectively, while Xcel Energy recorded a 10% increase with 55 job postings during October 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s power industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 95.61% share in October 2021, a 0.45% decrease over September 2021. Canada featured next with a 3.31% share, up 2.22% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.01% share, a growth of 40% compared with September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 48.63%, up by 4.81% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 32.73% share, registered a growth of 0.44% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 18.35% share, down 11.15% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.29%, recording a month-on-month decline of 42.86%.
