The global power industry noticed a 6.9% rise in IT hiring activity in November 2021 over the previous month, led by Siemens 11.15% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The power industry’s overall hiring activity increased 5.83% when compared with October 2021.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 10.59% share of the global power industry’s hiring activity in November 2021, up 0.34% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of November 2021 were 1.78% higher when compared with the previous month.
The increase was a result of 4.77% lower job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 54.87% emerged as the top IT occupation in the power hiring activity in November 2021, an 11.17% growth over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in second with a share of 14.23% in November 2021, up 14.73% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 13.1% share in November 2021, a growth of 14.4% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 10.55% share in November 2021 and a drop of 11.78% over October 2021.
Top five power companies by recruitment activity in November 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 8.31% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global power industry during November 2021 over October 2021.
Siemens posted 372 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a drop of 4.12% over the previous month, followed by Companhia de Transmissao de Energia Eletrica Paulista with 316 jobs and an 18.77% decline. NextEra Energy with 206 IT jobs and Schneider Electric with 164 jobs, recorded a 25.09% decline and a 5.75% drop, respectively, while Umicore recorded a 59.79% rise with 155 job postings during November 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in power industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global power IT hiring activity in November 2021 with a 49% share, which marked a 4.67% rise over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 23.7%, registering a 13.98% month-on-month growth. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 16.27% share and a 39.95% rise over October 2021.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 10.34% and a month-on-month drop of 21.77%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.69%, registering a 35.29% increase over the previous month.
