December 2021 has seen a decrease of 3.71% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 10.61% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 0.09% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 63.43% in December 2021, a 23.44% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 15.21% in December 2021, marking a 24.8% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 12.3% in December 2021, a 12.64% drop from November 2021.

Top five power companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 14.48% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s power industry during December 2021 over previous month.
Siemens posted 135 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered an increase of 2.27% over the previous month, followed by Umicore with 124 jobs and a 6.06% drop. Vestas Wind Systems with 62 IT jobs and Nordex with 36 jobs, recorded a 1.64% rise and a 2.7% drop, respectively, while E.ON recorded a 68.97% decline with 27 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s power industry
Germany commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 22.82% share in December 2021, a 30.88% decrease over November 2021. Belgium featured next with a 20.55% share, down 6.62% over the previous month. The UK recorded a 9.71% share, a drop of 43.4% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.28%, down by 24.51% from November 2021. Entry Level positions with an 18.61% share, registered a decline of 3.36% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 12.46% share, down 37.4% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.65%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
