Australia’s power industry registered a 4.1% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 11.4% in November 2022 when compared with October 2022.

Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.84% share in November 2022, recording an increase of 0.2% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Australia’s power industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.3% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s power industry in November 2022.

1) Database and Network Administrators and Architects recorded a share of 35.14% in November 2022, registering a 13.33% decline over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 21.62% share, a decrease of 20% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 21.62%, registering a 14.29% rise from October 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 16.22%, down 25% over the previous month.

Top five power companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 8% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s power industry during November 2022 over October 2022.

Snowy Hydro posted 7 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a rise of 40% over the previous month, followed by Siemens with 5 jobs and a 66.67% growth. ResourceCo with 4 IT jobs and AGL Energy with 4 jobs, recorded a 100% growth and a 69.23% decrease, respectively, while Iberdrola recorded an increase of 50% with 3 job postings during November 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.57%, down by 32.43% from October 2022. Mid Level positions with an 18.92% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.11% share, down 25% over October 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 5.41%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
