The project is being developed by Kopere Solar Park and Voltalia. The project is currently owned by Voltalia with a stake of 100%.

Voltalia Kopere Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is planned over 100 hectares.

The project is expected to generate 106GWh electricity to offset 1,081t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

Development status

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to Kenya Power and Lighting under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years. The offtake capacity is expected to be 40MW.

Voltalia is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.

Suntech Power Holdings will be the supplier of the PV modules for the solar power project. The company is expected to install 144,960 modules at the site.
