Description

The project is being developed by Datang International Power Generation. China Datang Overseas Investment and Government Of Lao People's Democratic Republic are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 81% and 19% respectively.

Sanakham is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 106 million cubic meter. The net head of the project will be 25m. The project is expected to generate 3,803 GWh of electricity.

The hydro power project consists of 12 turbines, each with 57MW nameplate capacity.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2024. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2028.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand under a power purchase agreement.
