Description

The project is being developed by Nachtigal Hydro Power. Electricite de France, International Finance, Africa50 Infrastructure Fund, The Republic of Cameroon and STOA Infra and Energy are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 40%, 20%, 15%, 15% and 10% respectively.

Nachtigal is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 27.8 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project will be 50m. The project is expected to generate 2,900 GWh of electricity.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2017. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2024.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to Eneo Cameroon under a power purchase agreement. The power will be sold at the rate of $0.069kWh for a period of 35 years. The capacity to be procured is 420MW.

Contractors involved

BESIX Group, NGE Group and Societe Generale des Travaux du Maroc are expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the hydro power project.

GE Renewable Energy will be the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company is expected to provide 7 units of francis turbines, each with 60MW nameplate capacity.

GE Renewable Energy will supply electric generator(s) for the project.
