Description
The project is being developed and currently owned by Africa Geothermal International.
The geothermal site has in total 34 number of wells. Out of this 26 will be production wells and remaining 8 will be injection wells. Longonot Geothermal Power Project will run at a temperature of 300 Degree Celsius.
The project is expected to generate 1,170GWh of electricity.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2024. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2025.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Kenya Power and Lighting under a power purchase agreement for a period of 25 years. The offtake capacity is expected to be 140MW.
