Description
The project was developed by CenPower Generation. Africa Finance, Sumitomo, Cenpower Holding, African Infrastructure Investment Managers and Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij voor Ontwikkelingslanden are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 31.85%, 28%, 21%, 15% and 4.15% respectively.
It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant that is used for Baseload. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Light Crude Oil, Diesel. The fuel is procured from West African Gas Pipeline, Vitol Holding BV.
The project generated 2,700GWh of electricity.
Development status
The project got commissioned in June 2019.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Electricity Company of Ghana under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 325MW.
