Description
The project was developed by Alten Energias Renovables. Alten Energias Renovables and Inspired Evolution Investment Management are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 70% and 30% respectively.
Kesses 1 Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 10 hectares.
The project generates 123,600MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 245,000 households, offsetting 33,880,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.
The project consists of 161,000 modules, each with 330W nameplate capacity.
12 inverters have been installed at the project site.
Development status
The project got commissioned in June 2023.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Kenya Power and Lighting under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 40MW.

Voltalia was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.
The project is utilising single axis trackers supplied by Trina Solar.
Voltalia is the O&M contractor for the solar PV power project for a period of 10 years.
