Description

The project was developed by Abu Dhabi Future Energy, EDF Renewables and Nesma Renewable Energy. EDF Renewables and Abu Dhabi Future Energy are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 51% and 49% respectively.

The project generates 1,400,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 72,000 households, offsetting 988,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The project has 130m high towers.

The project is currently active. The project construction commenced in 2019 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in December 2021.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Saudi Power Procurement under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.019kWh for a period of 20 years.

Vestas Wind Systems was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the wind power project.

Vestas Wind Systems was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The company provided 99 units of V150-4.2 MW turbines, each with 4.2MW nameplate capacity.

Vestas Wind Systems is the O&M contractor for the wind power project for a period of 20 years.
