Description

The project is currently owned by NHPC.

Dhauliganga - I is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 6.2 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project are 310m and 297m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 4 in number. The penstock length is 95.16m. The penstock diameter is 2.4m. Dhauliganga - I underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2013-14. The project generated 1,134.69 GWh of electricity.

Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam are the power offtakers from the project.

Contractors involved

GE Power India was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 4 units of francis turbines, each with 70MW nameplate capacity.

GE Power India supplied 4 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 29 MVA.
