Description
The project is being developed by Betan Karnali Sanchayakarta Hydropower. The project is co-owned by Nepal Electricity Authority and Vidhyut Utpadan, with their respective ownership stake of 10% each.
Betan Karnali is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 125 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project will be 99.13m and 94.13m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 2 in number. The penstock length will be 100.87m. The penstock diameter will be 1.4m. The project is expected to generate 2,299 GWh of electricity.
The hydro power project consists of 6 units of francis turbines.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2023. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2028.
