Description

The project was developed by Bahia de Bizkaia Electricidad. BP and Ente Vasco de la Energia are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 75% and 25% respectively.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Diesel. The fuel is procured from Bahia de Bizkaia Gas.

The project generated 2,800,000MWh of electricity.

Development status

The project got commissioned in July 2003.

The power generated from the project is sold to Redeia Corporacion under a power purchase agreement.

Abengoa, Babcock & Wilcox Espanola and Seridom Servicios Integrados Idom were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the gas fired power project.

GE Power was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 1 unit of Condensing Type steam turbine with 281.823MW nameplate capacity.
