Description

The project is currently owned by PT PLN Nusantara Power with a stake of 36.61%, International Finance with a stake of 5% and RH International (Singapore).

Asahan 1 is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 2,860 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project are 170.1m and 163.5m respectively. The penstock length is 275m. The penstock diameter is 6m. The project generated 1,175 GWh of electricity.

The project construction commenced in 2007 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2010.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to PT PLN (Persero) under a power purchase agreement for a period of 30 years. The contracted capacity is 1,175GWh.

Contractors involved

Dongfang Electric was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of francis turbines, each with 92.3MW nameplate capacity.

Dongfang Electric supplied 2 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 100 MVA.

Harbin Electric International and PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali Services were contracted to render operations & maintenance services for the project.
