Description
The project was developed by Cennergi and Windlab. Cennergi, Amakhala Emoyeni Bedford Wind Farm Community Trust holding and Amakhala Emoyeni Cookhouse Wind Farm Community Trust are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 95%, 2.5% and 2.5% respectively.
The project generates 450,559MWh electricity thereby offsetting 445,152t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.
The Tubular Steel towers installed at the project site are 91m high.
Development status
The project is currently active. The project got commissioned in July 2016.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years, starting from 2017.
Contractors involved
Nordex was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the wind power project.
Nordex was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The company provided 56 units of N117 (2.4 MW) turbines, each with 2.4MW nameplate capacity.
Nordex is the O&M contractor for the wind power project. The operation and maintenance contract commenced from 2016, for a period of 10 years.
