Description

The project is being developed by Hitachi Zosen Inova, Marubeni and Tadweer Group. These companies also have ownership stakes in the project.

The electricitiy generated from the plant will offset 1,100,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The process of combustion will be adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Municipal solid waste will be used as a feedstock to power the project.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2026. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2027.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to Emirates Water and Electricity under a power purchase agreement for a period of 30 years.

Contractors involved

ALEC Engineering and Contracting and Butec SAL are expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.

Hitachi Zosen Inova and Tadweer Group are expected to be contracted for rendering of operations & maintenance services for the project.
