Management Occupations drive power industry hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 9% new job postings, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the North American power industry in Q2 2024 , ahead of Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 9% share of new job postings.

The other prominent roles included Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 9% share in Q2 2024, Production Occupations with a 6% share and Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies accounted for 20% of hiring activity

The top five companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined 20% of the overall hiring activity in the North American power industry in Q2 2024.

Republic Services posted 3,831 jobs in Q2 2024 and registered a growth of 38% over the previous quarter, followed by Duquesne Light with 2,359 jobs and a 13% growth. Marmon, with 1,442 jobs, and Sunrun, with 1,430 jobs, recorded a 37% rise and a 28% rise, respectively, while NextEra Energy recorded a 5% increase with a 1,290 new job postings during Q2 2024.

Regional analysis of hiring in the North American power industry, Q2 2024

The US held the leading share of the North American power hiring activity with a 91.79% share, a 13% increase over Q1 2024. Canada was next with 5.07%, four-percentage-point up over the previous quarter.
