By GlobalDataIn the past, SPIE has worked with WESL on Oil and Gas contracts, and it is the first renewable energy contract between the two companies.
SPIE UK divisional managing director Philip Kinsella said: “We were delighted to continue our long and successful relationship with WESL.
“Our team’s extensive expertise ensured that all the transition pieces were delivered within an industry-leading timescale and in accordance with client expectation.”
SPIE UK noted that the scheme created a number of variations. The company said that the addition of 21st transition piece was the most significant, as it will be used as a spare of mock-up trial unit.
Starting on 1 December 2017, the contract was originally for the 35-week duration. However, with the introduction of the 21st transition piece and other changes, the agreement was extended until the end of September 2018.
The company won the competitive tender as a result of its core competencies of electrical, instrumentation and mechanical installation.
WESL project manager Kevin Wilson said: “We would like to thank SPIE in providing a high level of service, commitment and installation quality across all 21 transition pieces.
“This level was instrumental in the praise Wilton Engineering received from the owner Ørsted A/S (formerly DONG Energy) for the high quality of product fit and finish of all our 21 transition pieces prior to their take over.
“As Wilton look to further expand our business into the area of renewable energy, it is reassuring that we can look to SPIE to assist us with the electrical fit off scope in the knowledge that they will provide a first class and technically compliant installation.”
