Wind turbine manufacturer Nordex Group has secured a contract from global utility firm Enel Green Power to supply and install turbines with 595MW capacity for Lagoa dos Ventos wind farm in Brazil.
Under the terms of the contract, Nordex will supply 191 AW125 turbines, which will be mounted on top of 120m concrete towers.
The towers will be manufactured by Nordex at its own plant in Brazil to lower costs and minimise the environmental footprint.
The plant was opened in April this year in the North Brazilian state of Brazil Piaui for the production of the 65 towers required for the Lagoa do Barro wind farm.
With this step, Nordex could optimise the construction costs of the wind farm and complete construction work with minimum environmental impact.
Lagoa dos Ventos wind farm will be owned and operated by Enel Green Power with which Nordex has previously worked successfully in different markets.
